🔎🕵️ Just like the secret agents in Agentes secretos y el mural de Picasso, Senora Aranavage’s students were on a mission! Using their Spanish vocabulary, students interpreted written and spoken clues to crack the codes and unlock the 5 Breakout EDU locks. Breakout EDU boxes are an escape room in a box. Teachers program codes, which are hidden in the relevant coursework, and work in teams to solve the challenges. It’s a fun and engaging way to review for an upcoming test. Students had to apply their cultural knowledge of Franco, Gaudí, Barcelona, la Sagrada Familia, Parque Güell, and las Ramblas to solve the challenges. ¡Vamos, agentes secretos! 🔐 #ChagrinSchools #CFtogether #ChagrinTigers #ChagrinFalls

Chagrin has always charted its own course when it comes to innovative teaching strategies. This week, our team shared some of those cutting-edge lessons and strategies with educators from across Ohio. 🧡📜 Learning local history, hands-on! 🏛️🚒 Gurney’s 3rd graders take turns visiting the Chagrin History Center to explore our community’s past in an engaging, interactive way. Aligned with Ohio’s Learning Standards for Social Studies, this experience helps students develop an understanding of local history, geography, and how communities change over time. With the help of volunteers, students get to examine historical tools, clothing, and maps, bringing history to life beyond the classroom. Our 4th graders brought history to life! ✨📚 Students researched influential figures and showcased their learning through an interactive Living Wax Museum featuring prominent problem solvers. Students researched their problem solver, wrote an informational essay, created a presentation board, and then embodied their chosen person—ready to share their story with the press of a button! Families were invited to explore the museum last Friday in the CFIS cafeteria, meeting remarkable figures and hearing firsthand about their contributions. It was an incredible experience filled with knowledge, creativity, and a touch of history coming to life! 🎭👏 #ChagrinSchools #CFtogether #ChagrinTigers #ChagrinFalls

What happens when you ask 400 4th, 5th, and 6th graders to share their thoughts about their school? Mr. Howell and the CFIS team embraced the challenge after winter break, and the feedback is in!💭🏫 Using the district's familiar roundtable discussion model, students shared their ideas on everything from academics to arrival/dismissal and recess. A common theme emerged: a strong desire for flexibility, interaction, and more personal choice in their school day.
