On August 2, 2022, the College Board released its AP Scholar and AP Capstone Award information to districts. This information follows the ongoing release of AP exam scores which began in July and will continue (in some cases) through August from the College Board for students who completed 1 or more AP exams in May - June 2022. The AP Scholar and Capstone Award information includes specific student by student data relative to AP exams taken over time, archived AP scores to-date, and receipt of one or more awards. It also provides a summary of student data and awards for each district.
The AP Scholar Award is granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.The AP Scholar with Honor Award is granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.The AP Scholar with Distinction Award Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. The National AP Scholar Award is granted to students in the United States who receive an average score of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams. (The National AP Scholar Award is no longer granted as of 2021 by the College Board.)
AP Capstone reflects student completion of AP Seminar and AP Research exams. AP Capstone Awards are listed on AP score reports, and students who earn the diploma or certificate can view and print it from their online account. Awards are also included on any AP score report sent to colleges. The AP Capstone Diploma is granted to students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research and on 4 additional AP Exams of their choosing. The AP Seminar and Research Certificate is granted to students who earn scores of 3 or higher in both AP Seminar and AP Research.
