The Chagrin Falls Board of Education appointed Steven Bordner to fill the vacant seat of Robert Schleper, Jr., who stepped down to serve on the Cuyahoga County Council District 6.
Bordner, a longtime resident of Chagrin Falls and father of two daughters currently attending Chagrin Falls Intermediate School, will serve on the Board until December 2025, when his position will be up for re-election.
“We are excited to welcome Steven to the Board,” said Lori Bendall, School Board President. “Steven’s dedication to the community, his active involvement as a parent, and his experience collaborating with boards and managing operations will be tremendous assets as we continue to focus on supporting student achievement and fiscal responsibility.”
Bordner brings a wealth of experience from his professional role as Director of Golf at The Country Club in Pepper Pike, where he oversees budgets exceeding $1.5 million and manages a team of over 20 employees. He is also a board member for the Northern Ohio PGA, a role that demonstrates his leadership and ability to work effectively in governance settings.
Bordner and his wife, Danah, have been actively involved as parents. They have participated in several roundtables, Listen and Learn meetings, and strategic planning events. They volunteer for classroom, lunch and recess support.
“If we want our children and students to grow and thrive, we need to make sure we are providing teachers with the tools to stimulate that growth, and a curriculum that is both engaging and challenging resulting in academic excellence,” said Bordner. “We should also understand that growing and thriving does not look the same to each child. Providing support and pathways for all is the only way we can truly be successful. As a Board member, I feel it will be important to support our superintendent and administration, listen and communicate with fellow parents and community members, and be a positive voice for our District.”
Bordner emphasized the importance of fostering collaboration between all stakeholders in the District, ensuring fiscal transparency, and providing pathways for every student to succeed. His appointment reflects a commitment to engaging the community and building upon the District’s ongoing strategic goals of inspiring all to grow and thrive.
Bordner officially assumed his role at the Board’s meeting on January 29. The Bordner family resides in Chagrin Falls.
