The Ohio Educational Library Media Association, Ohio's professional association for highly effective school librarians and libraries, announced that Mike Daugherty, Director of Technology and Innovation for Chagrin Falls Schools, is the recipient of the 2024 OELMA Service Award for School Administrators.
The OELMA Service Award for School Administrators honors school administrators whose leadership has made a significant contribution to the school library media program and services within their learning community.
As one of Mr. Daugherty's recommendation letters stated, "The spirit of collaboration is one of Mike's greatest strengths. Mike understands how collaboration between his position, the library media specialist, and the teachers is a crucial connection for literacy skills. Mike removes barriers and creates opportunities for these individuals to collaborate and support students. This collaboration is incredibly powerful – we are able to learn from each other and improve our practices. This would be impossible without Mike's advocacy and support. Mike's leadership has fostered a collaborative environment where the library media program thrives. His commitment to equitable access and information literacy skills has demonstrably improved student learning outcomes."
Daugherty will be recognized at the 2024 OELMA Conference and Awards Ceremony, October 2-4, 2024, in Dublin, OH.
