Angie Jameson, library media specialist for Chagrin Falls Schools, is the recipient of the 2023 Ohio Educational Library Media Association (OELMA) Tech Innovation Award. This award honors a licensed school library media specialist who uses technology as a tool for learning and collaborates to promote the integration of technology throughout the curriculum.
In his letter of nomination, Mike Daugherty, Director of Technology and Innovation for Chagrin Falls Schools, stated:
Angie Jameson, our District librarian, is an exceptional media specialist who inspires a love of reading in everyone she meets. Her dedication to promoting literacy is unmatched. Angie Jameson has been instrumental in promoting reading engagement throughout our District, as evidenced by several noteworthy tech initiatives. She spearheaded the installation and training of Sora, a platform that provides students with access to a vast library of e-books and audiobooks, and on all District Chromebooks. Additionally, she collaborated with a high school English language arts teacher to record read aloud‘s, and share them with elementary school students.
One of her greatest innovations is her library to-go bags. Every month, Angie designs a set of activities that students and staff can do on their own, outside of school. The web-based sign-up form gathers information specific to each person. The result is a bag containing craft supplies for a book-related craft, personalized book recommendations, a personalized book selection, and wellness message. These library to-go bags greatly encourage learners and staff to read independently. Countless individuals have attested to her invaluable contributions to our daily operations, as well as her unwavering support for teachers and students alike.
Jameson will be recognized at the 2023 OELMA conference and award ceremony on October 6, 2023 in Dublin, Ohio.
