On March 8, the Ohio Middle Level Association (OMLA) hosted a Northeast Ohio Regional Breakfast of Champions to honor local student-leaders. Students were nominated by teachers for showing outstanding character, scholarship, leadership and service within their respective buildings. Chagrin Falls Middle School (CFMS) seventh-grader Morgan Graves and eighth-grader Autumn Taylor, were among those students recognized. Twenty-two schools from across the region gathered together to celebrate the success of approximately 45 student leaders. Students were joined by parents, grandparents, teachers and administrators.
The breakfast was keynoted by Flo Brett from the Effective Leadership Academy, who gave students helpful tips on how to lead in school and life.
“Morgan and Autumn are exceptional leaders. They are involved in many clubs and activities and not only have initiative but follow through,” said Principal Laila Discenza. “They are hard working, organized and kind. It is great having them at CFMS!”
Morgan Graves is a wonderful leader both in and out of the classroom. She is a model student to her peers. She is diligent, hard-working, and always has a great attitude. Morgan participates frequently in class and adds a great deal to discussions. She has been a past CFMS Student of the Month for her positive work ethic and academic success while also being a past Tiger TrailBlazer for her inclusivity and respect to others. She puts the leader in cheer as she has specific squad duties, such as choosing the calls. Morgan is also a member of the Student Council, where she successfully leads committees and helps others to productively work together within our school and community.
Autumn Taylor is a passionate young lady who focuses on kindness, acceptance and fellowship. She worked to acquire a CEO speaker to meet with the school to share her educational journey in order for students to hear what power skills are necessary for success. She has worked with staff members to design diversity activities and has excellent thoughts on recycling in schools. Autumn is an A student who is thoughtful in her planning, organization and follow-through. She is involved in many clubs such as Cheerleading, Student Council and Speech and Debate. At CFMS, she is a Student Ambassador and an exemplary role model to her peers.
