Chagrin Falls High School (CFHS) senior Julia Ashkettle has been selected as the March Chagrin Valley Rotary Student of the Month. Ashkettle was chosen based on leadership and service qualities displayed in the community.
At CFHS, Ashkettle earned a variety of awards and recognitions including being chosen as CFHS’s Tiger Times newspaper editor-in-chief, nominated for the Hoby Youth Leadership Conference, and named the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Student of the Year (2021), class president of 10th grade, Advanced Placement scholar, Honor Roll, and the Ohio Seal of Biliteracy.
Ashkettle is a member of girls lacrosse, choir, Connect Club, Student Council, and Link Crew.
Ashkettle tutors native Spanish immigrants from Honduras in the English language. She supported her family during their transition to America. She is a member of the Gathering Place Emerging Leaders Council working to help cancer patients and their families. She also is a full-time nanny/babysitter.
While at CFHS, Ashkettle took the following accelerated classes: AP World History, AP Seminar, AP US History, AP English Language and Composition, AP US Government and Politics, AP Environmental Science, AP English Literature and Composition, AP Psychology, and AP Spanish Language and Culture. Ashkettle will be attending Miami University to study Early Childhood Education.
